This rustic modern retreat was custom built by Couture Homes with interiors by Jenny Martin Design, tucked away in a protected cove of North Saanich, Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Created to be vibrant and cutting edge, this dwelling features a dramatic interior that tells a tale of adventure through the incorporation of sculptures and custom displays.
By combining rustic textures, live edge (locally sourced) timbers, quartzite and embellished concrete floors, this design effortlessly blends raw authentic materials to achieve a rugged and show-stopping aesthetic. Through the incorporation of expansive oceanfront tilt-and-turn windows and dramatic lighting, the project team was able to produce a bold aesthetic that was artistic, sculptural and functional.
Inspired by the home’s surrounding environment, this design optimizes outdoor space through the integration of fire pits, an outdoor kitchen and extravagant water features that parallel the level of detail found on the interior of the home.
Pushing boundaries, this project is both rugged and rustic in design. It has achieved a daring and architecturally unique aesthetic that lays a foundation for years of memories to be made within it’s walls.
What We Love: This modern rustic retreat is nestled on a beautiful property with dreamy waterside views. An attractive exterior facade draws one into this spectacular home with many customized details throughout. We are especially loving the entryway with its unique flooring detail, a nod to this home’s exquisite location. Overall, the project team did a fantastic job of creating a visionary design for this home’s lucky inhabitants.
